The Akita is large, powerful, alert, with much substance and heavy bone. They have a deep muzzle, small eyes and erect ears, and a large curled tail. Renown for their fierce love, loyalty and obedience to their owner. Akita's are the largest of the Japanese Spitz-type breeds and have webbed feet and are very strong swimmers. They need space and should not be confined.
